Welcome to the Australian Dance Challenge website.

The Australian Dance Challenge is a competition like no other. We are not an eisteddfod. ADC is a showcase of young talent in Australia. Each performance event is like a full show complete with lighting, professional sound, stage manager, performer introductions and supportive audience. We believe that every child deserves the chance to feel like a superstar and enjoy a professional performance athmosphere.

Founded by dance entrepeneur Ben Stokes, the idea for the Australian Dance Challenge came from years spent sitting at traditional dance eisteddfods held in High School halls with noisy rude audiences, limited lighting, poor sound quality, uncomfortable seats and all the things you'd expect to see from our local eisteddfods. Ben wanted to re-invent the "eisteddfod", as we've come to know it, and offer a special performance opportunity that would be memorable for performers as well as stress-free and convenient for parents/teachers.

The last two years, the Australian Dance Challenge was held at the Camden Civic Centre. We've now outgrown that venue and have found a new home for 2009 at the Banktown Town Hall. This amazing venue is one of the biggest and best performance theatres in Sydney's south-west. The Troupes will be held in the Auditorium which seats over 900 and boasts a huge stage and state-of-the art equipment and facilities. The solos will be held in the Bankstown Town Hall Theatre.

The 2009 Troupes competition will be held on 22nd and 23rd August. Entries are now officially open and will more than likely sell out. We can only run over this one weekend, so get in quick!

The Solo competition, which also this year will offer sections in Singing and Drama, will be held during the first week of the July school holidays. 20th to the 24th July.
